Cruise Description

5-Day Southern Patagonia Cruise Aboard M/V Skorpios III – From Puerto Natales to the Southern Ice Field

Sail through the dramatic fjords and remote wilderness of southern Patagonia aboard the M/V Skorpios III on a 5-day cruise that takes you deep into Chile’s pristine southern frontier, all the way to the majestic glaciers of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field.

Starting and ending in the port city of Puerto Natales, located approximately 2,500 km south of Santiago, this itinerary includes 4 nights onboard and covers 380 nautical miles through stunning fjords, narrow channels, and glacier-lined coastlines.

Cruise through Kirke Narrows before reaching the vast Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, Chile’s largest protected area, where you’ll encounter an extraordinary number of tidewater glaciers flowing down from the Andes into the sea.

Marvel at the Amalia Glacier, whose striking blue face spans over 3 kilometers wide. This impressive glacier is one of the fastest-moving in the region, offering an awe-inspiring example of glacial dynamics in motion.

Continue to El Brujo Glacier, an immense wall of ice nestled among rugged mountains, then sail into Calvo Fjord, a spectacular enclave surrounded by multiple hanging glaciers that tumble from the Southern Ice Field into iceberg-filled waters.

Venture into the narrow and scenic Montañas Fjord, where the snow-capped Sarmiento Mountains frame a breathtaking landscape dotted with glaciers such as Alsina, Bernal, Herman, and Zamudio.

At Bernal Glacier, disembark and follow a short trail through austral forest to the glacier’s snout, where you can touch ancient ice and witness the traces of past advances and retreats along the exposed rock.

The highlight of your journey is the rare opportunity to access remote glaciers only reachable by sea, offering a privileged perspective on one of the most isolated and spectacular regions of Patagonia.

Though there are faster ways to reach Patagonia, this 5-day expedition offers a unique immersion in its natural wonders—where every bend in the fjords reveals another breathtaking scene.
