Cruise Description
This 6-day Western Galapagos Islands cruise on the luxury Odyssey yacht reaches some of the region's most remote and pristine islands.
With nine sophisticated cabins, a maximum capacity of 16 passengers and 10 attentive crew members, experience the Enchanted Islands in an intimate setting with personalized care.
Your journey begins at Seymour Airport on Baltra Island, where you'll meet and greet your naturalist guide and fellow passengers, and by ferry, reach Santa Cruz to board the Odyssey.
The very first stop on this cruise is the Charles Darwin Research Center, a facility dedicated to preserving marine wildlife and biodiversity in the region.
Spend Days 2, 3, and 4 of this six-day Western Galapagos Islands cruise on Isabela Island. At 4640 sq. km, Isabela Island is the largest in the archipelago. Here, visit the resting site of whitetip reef sharks and hike through evergreen cloud forests to the 1124 meter summit of Sierra Negra, encountering endemic vegetation on your way to the volcanic rim.
Continue on to Moreno Point, where you'll walk its lava fields and go on an inflatable dinghy ride along the pristine shoreline of Isabela Island to see marine iguanas and brown pelicans. From there, journey onward to both Mariela Islets and Elizabeth Bay to see endangered Galapagos penguins in their natural habitat.
On the Odyssey, reach the Galapagos Islands' third-largest island of Fernandina. Because it's free of any introduced species, Fernandina holds the reputation as one of the world's most pristine islands. Return to the northwestern shores of Isabela Island to see Tagus Cove, a site historically frequented by pirates who left their mark by carving the names of the vessels they commanded into the site's surrounding cliff faces.
Sail onward to Santiago Island to observe green turtles nest on striking Espumilla Beach, backed by the tallest Palo Santo trees. Then arrive on the black sand beach of Puerto Egas by wet landing, where its coastline of natural arches, caves, and blowholes make for a visually striking landscape. Here, learn how a salt mine business was open very briefly and quickly shut down in the late 1920s.
Spend your final morning on the Odyssey touring Lobos Islet, named in honor of the large colony of sea lions that take over this land. You'll have the exciting opportunity to approach females within a few meters before transferring to Seymour Airport on Baltra Island for your onward journey.
Spend six days with the Odyssey yacht discovering some of the world's most untouched islands by hiking, wildlife spotting, and snorkeling.
