A 1-hour morning drive will get you to the Potrerillos dam, an essential component in the success of this wine region as it provides the vineyards' much-needed irrigation from the Mendoza river.
On National Route 7, you might be able to get unrivaled views of the not-so-distant Tupungato volcano, one of the highest mountains in the Americas towering at 21,560 feet (6570 m). After an hour driving along this scenic road you will pass the small town of Uspallata, an oasis in this extremely dry area.
Your next stop will be at el Puente del Inca (the Inca's Bridge), a natural arch that forms a bridge over the Vacas River, before reaching the Aconcagua Provincial Park.
Prepare yourself for stunning views of the Aconcagua mountain. Sitting majestically at 22837 feet (6960 m), it is the highest peak in the world outside Asia, it is also the highest moutain in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the world's 'Seven Summits'.
Time to walk in the Provincial Park and enjoy spectacular views of the Aconcagua.
