Tour Description

Dedicated to providing you with an authentic experience, the Juma Amazon Lodge has carefully created a 4 day Amazon tour that takes advantage of its naturally beautiful surroundings.

On your journey to the lodge from Manaus, see the Meeting of the Waters, a striking natural phenomenon where the dark and contrasting sandy colors of the Rio Negro and Rio Solimões converge but never mix.

Encounter nocturnal wildlife up close on a night time jungle safari with your naturalist guide, and learn the techniques to spot caimans in the dark night.

Go bird-watching early in the morning when the sun rises majestically over the Amazon, and try the thrilling activity of piranha fishing.

Aside from the opportunities to observe the region's wildlife, this Amazon tour also offers the opportunity to experience the rainforest culturally, with excursions to visit the home of a Caboclo, and observe the tedious production process of manioc flour - a key economic activity of the region.

Get to know your knowledgeable guide in a casual setting during an informal talk, and listen to personal accounts of growing up here and the legends of the Amazon.

After exciting days of guided rainforest hikes and traversing the network of waterways that crisscross the vast area by canoe, rest your head at Juma Amazon Lodge, an eco-lodge designed to seamlessly blend into its natural surroundings. Its 19 bungalows are rustic in style and feature views of either the lush forest or the free-flowing river.

Day 1 MEETING OF THE WATERS, ARRIVAL, IGAPOS, CANOE TRIP, NIGHT BOAT SAFARI

Morning

Depart from Manaus at 7:30 this morning for a 3-hour journey, split between cars and speedboats, to Juma Amazon Lodge. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to spot pink dolphins and see the Meeting of the Waters, where the dark currents of the Rio Negro and the sandy-colored tides of the Rio Solimões converge but never mix. Travel along with the two-toned natural phenomenon, where you'll have the opportunity to dip your hands into both Amazon River tributaries to feel the stark difference in temperature.
Arrive at Juma Amazon Lodge at around 11 am, where you'll be greeted with a fresh welcome juice at check-in.

Evening

Tonight, embark on a night time jungle safari with your guide to spot caimans - amphibious carnivores belonging to the alligator family.
