Cusco

Cusco City is known as the “Archaeological Capital of America", and for good reason. Currently the largest and most visited tourist attractions of Peru, it was also the largest city and capital of the Inca empire, "the Tahuatinsuyo" (which also included parts of Ecuador, Colombia and Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile).

With the advent of the Spanish conquistadors, Iberian architecture was introduced, creating this unique fusion of Inca style and Iberian form. The people of Cusco are proud of their heritage and practice their customs and traditions as a routine part of their lives, allowing visitors to become a part of living history. Cusco was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO. Cusco is located in Huatanay River Valley, in the southeasts Andes of Peru, in the jurisdiction of province and region Cusco, it is 3,399 meters (11,151 feet) above sea level.

The beautiful Cathedrals of Santo Domingo and La Compania de Jesus will thrill you with their old world architecture, a stroll through the old streets of the city center will lure you into their shops and restaurants, and the friendly people of the city will charm you.
